Morgedal - the cradle of modern ski-sport - Sondre Nordheim's home village, lies in a central position for eastern, western and southern Norway, beside the major road E-134 in "the heart of Telemark". The Olympic flame was lit in this village for the Winter Sports in Oslo 1952, Squaw Valley in 1960 and Lillehammer in 1994.
